As a personal trainer I want to help individuals focus and train. Training is a mission, you are heading somewhere, to attain a higher goal. What are your goals for fitness training? Training needs an end goal -- to better yourself physically. It could be to reduce pain, to alleviate stress, or to run a marathon, to achieve a higher level in your sport or art, or to lose weight. It should be motivating and to be more motivating it should be fun. Training also needs a higher purpose. God gave us physical bodies and when we start out in this world we hardly stop moving. What is your higher purpose? Why? Maybe its a big dream end goal like climbing Mt. Everest. Then ask how do I get there from here?

First, name the goal. Define your purpose.

Second, assess where you are compared to your goal. Does it seem unreasonable? Lots of things seem unreasonable and as we gain momentum they change from unachievable to believable. Assess the reason for the goal, not just is it reasonable but the why. Why in your heart of hearts do you want this goal? That answer will tell your motivation for the goal.

Third, block-chunk the goal into pieces. Create mini-goals and micro-goals. Celebrate all accomplishments! Take a look at your life. What are your goals physically, maybe you want to garden until your 75. That's a huge goal! What will get you there? Block-chunk your goal into smaller goals, then micro-goals. Create mini and micro goals to help set you on a clear course, fill your sails with the necessary wind ( the bits of training you will accomplish daily) and begin a journey to living a long life with a body that will garden at 75.
